Compliance event is strategic milestone for NAID-ANZ

26 November 2015

On 18 November, iapp-ANZ (International Association of Privacy Professionals-ANZ) held their annual conference in Melbourne, attracting almost 200 high profile compliance decision makers from Australia and New Zealand.

As readers may know, NAID-ANZ is a Platinum Sponsor of this event, which dramatically increased its outreach and access to these critical policy development professionals, most of whom are responsible for data protection compliance at the region’s largest and most high-profile organizations in both the public and private sectors.

According to the NAID-ANZ committee member Tim Horton ShredLock Australia, who attended the event and manned the association’s display booth at the event, attendees were very receptive to information on secure destruction and certification.

“It was obvious these important compliance professionals are interested in learning more about secure destruction as a critical compliance issue,” says Horton. “It is also obvious that we need to bring secure destruction to their attention, since many of them are unaware of its importance, though they immediately recognize it once pointed out.”

NAID-ANZ’s Regional Executive Director Emma Heath believes this is just the first step in long term strategy to inform key decision makers.

“The organization made a big impression by its high-profile participation in this conference,” says Heath. “Continuing and expanding this type of outreach will pay off handsomely for the organization and its mission to promote proper data destruction.”
