NAID-Europe comments on proposed DIN specification

NAID-Europe will submit comments to the committee evaluating the revised shredding specification proposed to the Deutsches Institut für Normung e.V. (DIN). Even though DIN is a German standards setting organization and the German delegate to the World Trade Organization, its specifications for paper shredding have been adopted worldwide by office shredding equipment manufacturers.

Comments on the revised DIN specifications are open through the end of January. Among the items NAID-Europe is asking the committee to reconsider are the following: elimination of the no-touch policy for contractors handling certain classes of documents and an increased consideration for the added security of outsourced destruction services that are processing large volumes and comingling the destroyed particles.
