Johnson adds more speaking engagements to upcoming NAID-ANZ visit

NAID CEO Bob Johnson will not have much time to sightsee on his upcoming trip to the NAID-ANZ 2013 Conference in Sydney, Australia.

“Whenever I make a trip this far, I try to use any extra time to connect with local policymakers,” said Johnson. “It is not often, however, that we can line up two speaking engagements to such important audiences.”

Johnson will address the Victoria and Canberra ASIS chapters on Feb. 20 and 21 respectively. The two speaking engagements begin one day after the conference in Sydney on Feb. 19.

“As the largest association of security directors in the world, ASIS members represent the kind of professionals that need to hear our message,” said Johnson. “Being invited to speak at these chapter meetings is both a great honor as well as a great opportunity. With only four days on the ground, it is going to be a whirlwind trip but it is certainly worth it.”

The NAID-ANZ 2013 Conference remains the centerpiece of Johnson’s visit to the region. The event will include a host of educational sessions and speeches from top officials of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the Department of the Australian Attorney General. In addition, there will be a press conference to reveal the results of the 2012 Australian Disposal Habits Study. This study was conducted to determine data disposal habits of local businesses. Similar press conferences that were held in Madrid and Toronto attracted major media outlets and opened dialogues about the need for better laws about proper disposal of sensitive information. The press conference will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 19. Click here for the full event schedule.
