Certification changes postponed

Following the member comment period about the proposed changes to the NAID AAA Certification Program, the Certification Rules Committee has postponed the implementation date.

“The rollout of the 2014 changes to the certification program have been put on hold, pending additional review by the Certification Rules Committee and the Multi-Location Certification Council,” said NAID Chief Compliance and Operations Officer Holly Vandervort. “To allow for thorough discussions of the comments provided, the committees felt it was necessary to delay the release.”

The proposed changes, as highlighted in previous articles, pertain to what is expected of NAID certified service providers for HIPAA risk assessment. Members were able to provide their feedback on these changes Jan. 2 through Feb. 1. Once the discussions have completed and the changes are implemented, members will be notified. Until such date, the 2013 certification application will be accepted.
