Article warns about current ITAD reconciliation practice

12 June 2014

An article co-authored by NAID CEO Bob Johnson in the latest edition of Information Technology Asset Knowledge (ITAK), describes how current IT asset disposal reconciliation methods have the potential of creating breach notification time bombs.

Johnson and his co-author Kyle Marks of RetireIT explain how aggressive enforcement of the increasing number of data breach notification conflict with way missing IT assets are typically treated.

The article also suggests a range of best practices designed to avoid the risks associated with missing IT assets, including proactively tracking devices and complying with breach notification laws when appropriate.

ITAK is the professional journal of the International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM), representing more than 11,000 IT professionals around the world.
