DATA PROTECTION BILL COMING TO CAYMAN ISLANDS

December 21, 2009- Government officials in the Cayman Islands said that they have been working for a number of months on the first data protection law for the region.  That is not to say it will be smooth sailing from here forward. There is another contradictory (and obsolete) law on the books known as the Confidential Relationships law which will have to be amended. Still, local authorities are confident of movement on the issue in 2010.
 
NAID will participate in a public comment period early in the year.
