SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT PUTS INMATE DATA AT RISK

A report by Andy Cerota posted on February 8th to the website of Houston, TX-based, ABC-affiliate, Channel 13 describes how arrest records full of personal information were found dumped in the city’s downtown district.

The documents in question, primarily inmate booking records, were found near a dumpster in back of the Harris County Sheriff's Department. The TV station reports that their cameras clearly showed inmate booking records containing sensitive information, including drivers license and social security numbers, tossed out like garbage.
The TV station also reports that authorities at the Sheriff’s Department are blaming human error in what is a clear violation of policy.
