DESTRUCTION POLICY ORGANIZATIONS EXPRESS INTEREST IN STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT WITH NAID

The NAID 2009 Annual Conference concluded on Friday, April 3rd with a session dedicated to understanding and navigating information destruction specifications.

Represented in the panel discussion were the Payment Card Industry Data Security Council, the National Archives and Records Administration and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. While the discussion covered a wide range of topics, including particle size, policy enforcement and standards jurisdiction, perhaps the most interesting point of discussion related to a general consensus that NAID Certification has the possibility of acting as an effective bridge for private and public sector security assurance.  The panel also supported the efforts of NAID to work with their organizations, and agreed to a long term dialog toward that end.
