According to a report posted to the website www.canoe.ca on March 24th, Saskatchewan's privacy commissioner is launching an investigation after hundreds of medical files were discovered in a vacant building.

The report states that acting on an anonymous tip, investigators found five boxes filled with more than 800 personal health records. A conviction for contravening patients' privacy can carry a fine of up to $50,000 for an individual and $500,000 for an organization.
