MEDICAL FILES IN PUBLIC RECYCLING BINS ATTRACTS POLICE
 
According to a report by Hal Nelson posted to the website of KXAN of Austin, TX, on May 12th, thousands of patients' personal medical information was dumped in a recycling bin outside of a local Goodwill Store.  According to the report the records have been taken into police custody and local authorities have contacted the Texas Attorney General’s office, which has been levying heavy fines for improper disposal of sensitive information. The report says a citizen called saying he made the discovery while dropping off some paper in the dumpster.
