HOUSING AUTHORITY INVESTIGATES MISPLACED FILES

September 23, 2009 -The Socorro County Housing Authority in New Mexico is investigating an incident where KOAT 7 News in Albuquerque discovered sensitive information belonging to the agency in a dumpster. Mary Ann Chavez, Executive Director of the Housing Authority, took responsibility for the careless disposal of the records. Regarding resolution of the incident, Ms. Chavez said, “The Section 8 manager will oversee the shredding or we may have to go to another route and hire a shredding company.” NAID would strongly encourage Ms. Chavez to outsource this service to a NAID member in order to prevent future incidents.
