NAID-Canada Seminar a Success

The 2008 NAID-Canada Seminar was November 10-11, 2008 in Toronto. The event was a tremendous success. The seminar was well attended from beginning to end and was highlighted by Elizabeth Denham’s keynote presentation. Ms. Denham who is the Assistant Federal Privacy Commissioner of Canada discussed the importance of information destruction as it pertains to overall data security and protecting personal information. In her presentation Ms. Denham cited numerous examples of improper data disposal and the consequences of such actions. Other sessions included Government Information Destruction Specifications which was conducted by Ken Clupp of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. NAID-Canada Board member and dataXile President Joseph Bozic conducted a presentation on Computer Disposal Options. A panel discussion on Information Destruction and Employee Compliance also took place. The speakers were Ric Handren, the Director of Protection Services for the Royal Bank of Canada and Derek Knights, the Senior IT Security Governance Specialist for Sun Life Financial. NAID Executive Director Bob Johnson also discussed How to Use the NAID Information Destruction Policy Compliance Toolkit.
