NAID-Canada Elections

Bookmark and Share

Day two of the event was exclusive to NAID-Canada members. On November 11, 2008 elections for the NAID Canada Board of Directors were held. Joseph Bozic of dataXile Corp. was elected as the new Chairman of the Board. He will be joined by newcomers Wendy Banting of Secural Datashred and Mario Skopek of Blue-Pencil Secure Shredding Solutions. Rounding out the board of directors will be returning members Kristjan Backman of Phoenix Recycling and former chair Dave Carey of Iron Mountain. Currently one position remains open with several potential candidates being considered for the post. The board will finalize their decision on who will be joining them in the coming weeks.

According to Mr. Bozic, one of the primary focuses of NAID-Canada will continue to be on government lobbying efforts. Since the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is currently under review, NAID-Canada will make every effort to ensure that information destruction provisions are considered for any future revisions. NAID-Canada will be speaking to the office of the Federal Privacy Commissioner of Canada in December regarding the importance of secure information destruction of electronic media. Building upon its recent growth in membership and improving NAID-Canada’s profile within corporate Canada will also be key goals for the near future.
