Binghamton University Repeatedly Jeopardizes Personal Files

On October 14, 2008 WHRW News reported that Binghamton University in New York had once again jeopardized the personal information of students. The official documents, which contained names and Social Security numbers of former students, were found on top of bags of shredded documents in a loading dock at the university. This reveals that a shredder was available to destroy some of the documents and that it just was not used to for all personal files.

Binghamton University has a history of improperly discarding personal files and being involved in student information data breaches. It is obvious that Binghamton University needs to enforce guidelines for secure information destruction by contracting a secure information destruction company.
