The theme of the 2009 NAID Annual Conference Committee is INFORMATION DESTRUCTION: THE BIG EASY OF SECURITY The Art of Turning a Complex Issue into a Simple Solution. The conference is scheduled for April 1–3, 2009 in New Orleans.

The sessions and speakers for the event are also taking shape and will be announced in a series of 2009 NAID Annual Conference e-updates that will begin in October.

NAID has already announced that one of the general sessions will bring together destruction specifications developers from a wide range of policy setting agencies including the IRS, FTC, SEC and NARA. Event organizers are also planning to include private sector policy makers from organizations such as the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. The hope is that the session will initiate an ongoing dialog with the participants, ultimately leading to a greater understanding and appreciation on the part of these agencies for the benefits and merits of outsourcing secure destruction.
