NAID Certification of Sanitization Operations Launched

Bookmark and Share

Effective immediately, NAID is officially launching its certification program for organizations offering hard drive sanitization operations.

Applications for the NAID Certification of Sanitization operations will be accepted for the Beta Phase launch through March 14, 2008. Those companies who then undergo a successful audit will together be considered as the first firms in the world to achieve NAID Certified status for their Sanitization Operations. The audits will be scheduled as expeditiously as possible and should all be completed by June 30, 2008. At that time, the NAID Certifications will be issued to each successful applicant. From that point forward, the program will be open to all remaining NAID Members who offer hard drive sanitization services.

In general, the NAID Certification Program is coming off a string of successes, including recognition from the State of Florida Dept. of Revenue, the city of York, Ontario, Canada, the US Veterans’ Administration, the city of Seattle, Washington, the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Canada, and, most recently, a nod to NAID Certification appearing in the E-Scrap Best Practices developed by an independent working group of electronic recycling processors and the US Environmental Protection Agency.

The NAID Certification Rules Committee will be holding an orientation for those interested in participating in the Beta Phase program launch. Those interested in participating in the program are encouraged to attend.
