Trashed Township Records Raise Eyebrows

Bookmark and Share

According to a report by Kevin Shea and Darryl Isherwood posted to NJ.com on January 3rd, a Hamilton, New Jersey Township citizen who was recycling his newspaper discovered about 20 cases of official-looking township records.  Authorities reacted to the incident with outrage and have promised an investigation.

It seems the concern over the incident is not necessarily due to the fact that there is personal information in the files, although that has not been ruled out.  The primary cause of concern is the propriety of discarding information in such a casual manner, even calling it “suspicious.”

The article hints that the hasty disposal may have been politically motivated to sabotage an incoming mayoral administration.
