New York Transportation Authority Tosses Employee Records

Bookmark and Share

The New York Post, in an article by Patrick Gallahue posted to their website on January 7th reports that employees of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority are furious that their personal information was tossed, unshredded, into a public dumpster.

According to the report, the employees filed a grievance on January 2nd, complaining that the records contained all the information an Identity Thief would need.  The article says that the complaint claims that personal information for more than 100 people, including mechanics, maintenance men and assistants, ended up in a Dumpster. The complaint also states that, on Dec. 29th, the men saw a foreman throwing out some files.

It is unclear from the article if any disciplinary action was taken in the case or what the next step in the complaint process will be.
