Kentucky Attorney General Investigates Disposal Practices

According to a report posted on Oct 30th to the website of Lexington, Kentucky-based, WTVQ, the results of the Attorney General’s investigation into the disposal of personal information is very troublesome. The article reports that out of 121 dumpsters that were searched, over 33 contained more than 500 records containing personal information.

The article also reports that Attorney General Greg Stumbo (pictured) has contacted the 33 businesses where personal information was found in dumpsters.

The story also states that the Attorney General has promised follow up investigations. It remains unclear from the article if Stumbo’s office will enforce penalty provisions of the state’s personal information destruction requirement.
