Employees of Red Cross Find their Files in Public Hallway

Bookmark and Share

On November 27th, the Dallas CBS-affiliate channel 11, who only one week earlier reported on casually discarded school records, posted a report to its website regarding the casual manner in which the local Red Cross had left personal employee records in a public hallway, apparently on their way to the dumpster.

According to the report, the boxes were labeled to be sent to the trash. The report also claims that Red Cross employees, some of whom were fearful of retribution, said they were outraged by the manner in which their personal information was being treated.

Reportedly, a Red Cross spokesperson said that the policy on employee records was to shred or incinerate employee records at the end of the retention period.
