Bookmark and Share

According to an article by Cathy Zollo of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune published on October 23rd, a Sarasota, Florida man looking for boxes in a dumpster behind a Blockbuster video store found membership applications and employment applications containing personal information. The story also reports that the man returned for more boxes the next day, only to find credit card information had been discarded.

A follow-up article by Todd Ruger reports that the incident caused Blockbuster to issue a memorandum to its over 4,000 retail outlets, reminding them that such information needed to be properly destroyed before being discarded.
