Lawsuit in Targets Receipts With too Much Data

Bookmark and Share

Two lawsuits filed against two international fast food chains earlier this month claim they violated a law limiting the amount of credit card information companies can print on customers' receipts.

The suit was filed July 11th in U. S. District Court in New Jersey, claiming the restaurants illegally printed the expiration date of a customer's credit card on a receipt. The lawsuit claims that a skilled hacker could use the expiration date and the last four digits of a credit card number to engage in fraud or identity theft.
