Texas Shredding Law Proposed

Bookmark and Share

On Monday, January 31, 2005, Texas State Representative Brian McCall of Plano, Texas, introduced HB-698. If passed, the law would subject companies improperly disposing of personal information to a $1,000 civil penalty – PER RECORD. The bill is intended to go into effect September 1, 2005.

The NAID Government Relations Committee has already reached out to the appropriate contacts to offer its assistance. That offer has been welcomed and we expect to have more to report on this matter very soon.
