Iron Mountain Achieves NAID Certification across North America

In the last week of September, Iron Mountain Secure Shredding division achieved NAID AAA Certification at all of its North American operations.

In commenting on the achievement, NAID executive director Robert Johnson stated, “It is good to see that NAID AAA Certification continues to earn the acceptance of the industry and consumers as a way to verify that data destruction service providers meet a superior level of operational security.”

Johnson adds, “With Iron Mountain Secure Shedding now adopting the program, NAID AAA Certification moves closer to becoming the default criteria for determining which vendors should be invited to compete for secure destruction opportunities.”

Data protection regulations in the United States and Canada, including HIPAA, GLB, FACTA, PIPEDA and PIPA, uniformly require organizations to have written criteria and process for selecting service providers to whom they give access to customer information. NAID AAA Certification not only establishes that criteria and process. It also provides an audit regiment, which is also generally required by the regulations.
