FACTA does not Require NAID Certification

Bookmark and Share

The proposed FACTA Disposal Rule contains examples of appropriate methods that would be acceptable for selecting a contractor to destroy covered information. Those include obtaining references, or verifying the contractor’s policies and procedures. The FTC also lists as one of the acceptable criteria, selecting a company that is certified by a recognized national trade association or similar organization. FACTA does not force the certification issue anywhere, nor does it mention NAID specifically.
