Among the many highlights of the NAID 2012 Annual Conference was the presentation of the President’s Award, the association’s highest honor, to Tim Oberst of Ohio Mobile Shredding. Active in NAID since joining in 2002, Oberst has served on a wide range of committees and has held the titles of director, treasurer, president elect, president and past president. Among Oberst’s many accomplishments were overseeing the merger with a Spanish secure destruction industry association (adding 24 members) and rolling out the NAID Information Destruction Policy Compliance Toolkit during his presidency.

NAID CEO Bob Johnson said, “We’ve been lucky to have people with such passion and commitment support the organization all these years. In Oberst’s case, he takes it to a higher level. It is obvious he wants to reciprocate everything NAID and the industry has done for him to make him so successful.”

The President’s Award is presented to individuals who have exhibited a long history of contributing to the industry. There have only been eight honorees in NAID’s 18-year history. The award presentation took place during NAID Tonight at the conference, which will be posted to NAIDTV (YouTube) on June 1.

Also, during the Annual General Membership Meeting at the conference, David Surdyk of Confidential Document Destruction and Les Etscheidt of Document Destruction and Recycling Services were each presented with a Member of the Year award. Photos from the NAID 2012 Annual Conference, including the Members of the Year presentation, are available on the NAID Facebook page.

NAID is indebted to Oberst, Surdyk, Etscheidt, and countless others over the years who have made the organization what it is today.
