Sept. 25, 2013

Over the first three years of the NAID Certified Secure Destruction Specialist (CSDS) Accreditation Program, advanced training in preparation for the examination included access to sample test questions and webinar series. This October, the association will launch an interactive Web-based training program that will make preparation for the examination more convenient and effective.

“The concept is simple and sure to make studying the program content easier,” said Director of Certification Operations Katie Mahoney, who administers the CSDS training, exam and continuing education units.

As the training tool is updated in the future, each question will include background reading and links to allow trainees to develop a thorough understanding of the issues. Once launched, those who register for CSDS training will be given access to an online training tool that will allow them to test their knowledge of the issues regularly.

“It’s essentially an online test that will show people where they stand and what they need to study,” said Mahoney.

It has not yet been decided whether the online CSDS training will completely replace the coaching webinars. There will be a $99 fee for the 2013 CSDS training, 100 percent of which can be applied to the $279 CSDS exam fee. CSDS examinations will be conducted on a regional basis around the U.S. and Canada in early 2014, culminating in the last test at the NAID 2014 Annual Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., on April 4.
