NAID reached 1,000 certified service providers on Sept.18.

“It’s a milestone and a significant vindication of the quality of the program,” said NAID Certification Rules Committee Chairperson Angie Singer Keating.

The AAA NAID Certification Program verifies the qualifications of certified information destruction providers through a comprehensive scheduled and unannounced audit program. This rigorous process supports the needs of organizations around the world by helping them meet numerous laws and regulations requiring protection of confidential customer information.

As Keating pointed out, the program helps organizations meet their regulatory requirements of verifying the qualifications of service providers handling private information.

“The success of the program is even more impressive when you consider that hundreds of thousands of organizations now rely on NAID AAA Certification to verify their data destruction services qualifications,” said Keating.

To achieve and maintain NAID AAA Certification status, data destruction service providers must undergo an ongoing series of scheduled and surprise audits by accredited, independent security professionals to verify compliance with security and regulatory compliance specifications.
