“The fact that Bob is increasingly sought out for his perspective on data destruction, regulatory compliance and policy development is great for our industry,” said NAID president Chris Isabel. “It’s always been one of our strategic goals.”

Already known as a prolific commentator on emerging issues, Isabel’s comments were prompted by two upcoming articles that will appear in prominent industry journals.  The first article, co-authored with Kyle Marks of RetireIT, will appear soon in the professional journal of the International Association of IT Asset Managers (IAITAM). It describes how recent events have demonstrated the need for better IT asset tracking and the risks of the conventional reconciliation practices.

A second article will be published in e-Scrap magazine, offering a perspective on NIST 800-88 Guidelines for Hard Drive Sanitization with a particular eye toward misuse and misconceptions surrounding the publication’s use.

Last year, Johnson received high praise for his article in Information Management titled “Risky Business,” documenting how current data protection regulations specify the role of vendor selection due diligence.
