Blog post discusses likelihood of Target suits going to Supreme Court

In a recent NAIDnotes post, NAID CEO Bob Johnson speculated that the unified class action suits against Target might actually end up before the U.S. Supreme Court, and further explains why it could be exactly what we need.

“Many want us to believe that data breaches are inevitable and unpreventable,” said Johnson. “I think when the consequences of a breach are so bad that preventing them is essential, they will stop quickly. Commercial airliners don’t crash regularly because it they did no one would use them; the business would fold,” said Johnson. “If data breaches meant the business would fold and that people would go to jail, they would stop too.”
