The last Certified Secure Destruction Specialist (CSDS) exam of the year will be held June 17 at 2 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa. This exam was added to the schedule a couple months ago to meet the demand in the region.

“I received several requests from individuals on the East Coast asking for an additional exam date,” said Director of Certification Katie Mahoney. “We try to accommodate members as best as possible and, in this case, we were able to do just that.”

The exam will also be held at the same hotel in Philadelphia as the Shred School workshop, which will be June 18-19 at 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days.

"This makes it really easy for secure destruction professionals to take the exam and brush up on their sales and business skills all in one place,” said NAID Director of Communications Kristina Carlberg.

The CSDS exam consists of 300 questions about data protection legislation, physical security, risk management, operations and records management. It establishes an individual’s competency in seven subject areas. To prepare for the exam, NAID provides individuals with a CSDS handbook on the NAID website, online training, and a sample exam. Once an individual earns their CSDS accreditation, they are also required to do professional development to maintain their accreditation.
