Though the official rollout of the new NAID Custodial Membership/Certification will be delayed until 2015, qualifying organizations can now join NAID.

The new membership category is designed specifically to recognize organizations taking custody of materials the will eventually require secure destruction. To qualify for membership, they must meet NAID custodial certification requirements and verify they use a NAID certified service provider when ultimately disposing of the materials. Among the many custodial member benefits are access to all sample contracts and documents, listing on the forthcoming interactive membership map and directory, access to all NAID marketing tools and Downstream Data Coverage, and attending NAID events at the member rate.

The NAID Custodial Membership/Certification application includes information on all membership requirements as well as pricing. An in-depth review of this membership is included in the forthcoming issue of NAIDnews, including the benefits and rationale of creating the category.
