The online training tool for industry professionals seeking the Certified Secure Destruction Specialist (CSDS) accreditation is now available. Currently, the training consists of almost 600 sample questions on industry-related core competencies, including legislation, destruction operations, records management, risk management, security, and NAID certification. This year’s content has been updated to include more on solid state device destruction, modifications to NAID certification, indemnification, and breach notification.

Over the coming weeks, recorded tutorials for each subject matter areas will also be available, all of which will be accessible through the online portal.

CSDS examinations will be held across the country on a region basis from December 2014 through March 2015, culminating in a final exam opportunity at the NAID 2015 Annual Conference in Texas. The dates and locations of the regional exam opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks. To register, the participant must first create a login with Digital Chalk. Participants are able to revisit the training module to review the questions as many times as they need within a six-month period.

Registration for the CSDS training module is $99, which credited in full toward the cost of the CSDS examination fee when the applicant advances. The CSDS exam fee is $288 for NAID members and $388 for non-members. There are no refunds for the CSDS training registration fee. To access the CSDS training module, the trainee must verify he/she meets the requirements to participate in the CSDS exam as per the CSDS Handbook.
