PHOENIX, ARIZONA –Indiana-based Tronitech is the first organization to earn the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) Custodial Membership/Certification. The achievement requires Tronitech to submit to scheduled and unannounced audits, validating the physical security of client information in their care and that the information is destroyed by a NAID AAA Certified service provider. As a result, Tronitech can legitimately and appropriately promote that it offers NAID AAA Certified secure destruction services to its clients.

“We want our records storage and imaging clients to know their discarded records are being properly destroyed,” said Tronitech’s Jason Shaw. “Of course, in the past, we always reassured them that we were. Our custodial membership gives us a way to actually prove it, which is very important to our customers’ compliance requirements.”

According to NAID CEO Bob Johnson, information management services who become NAID custodial members will receive the same promotional benefits the association offers other NAID certified service providers. This includes listing among the certified locations on the association’s vendor selection dashboard as well as access to Downstream Data Coverage, a NAID-developed professional liability insurance product.

“The important thing is that the client knows that the final destruction process is NAID Certified,” said Johnson. “At the end of the day, the program verifies that the destruction was ultimately performed to NAID certification standards, which is all that should really matter. There are thousands of information management services around the world that outsource the destruction of their clients’ records. Not only do their customers benefit from the due diligence reassurances that come from NAID certification, but the service provider gets the marketing benefits they deserve for committing to these high standards.”

NAID Custodial Membership/Certification, which requires service providers outsourcing records destruction on behalf of their clients to verify the use of a NAID certified service provider, was launched in January 2015. The program is receiving considerable interest from service providers as well as their clients.

About NAID: NAID is a non-profit trade association of the secure destruction industry, currently representing over 1,900 member locations globally. NAID’s mission is to promote the proper destruction of discarded information and to encourage the outsourcing of destruction needs to qualified contractors.

The NAID AAA Certification Program is offered on a voluntary basis to all NAID member companies providing information destruction services. Through the program, NAID members may seek certification for mobile and/or plant-based operations in paper or printed media, micro media, computer hard drive destruction, and/or computer hard drive sanitization. The certification program establishes standards for a secure destruction process, including such areas as operational security, employee hiring and screening, the destruction process, responsible disposal and insurance. NAID certified members are subject to announced and unannounced audits by accredited security professionals to validate regulatory and security compliance.
