The NAID Board of Directors has approved a program to assist first-time certification applicants by subsidizing the use of approved consultant.

Late last year, NAID surveyed its non-certified members to learn the reasons they were not participating in the NAID AAA Certification Program. One of the most common reasons was that they lacked the time and resources to implement the required compliance measures. Effective July 1, NAID will provide a subsidy of $400 for members to acquire the help of an authorized consultant to make the process of becoming NAID certified easier. The subsidy only applies to consultants approved by NAID. To date, JT Environmental is the only consulting firm that has applied to participate.

According to the Jason Teliszczak, CEO at JT Environmental, the subsidy is enough to cover most, if not all, of the costs of their basic NAID package.

“NAID’s certification program is pretty straightforward, with many of the forms and template already provided,” said Teliszczak. “Because of our extensive involvement in helping others achieve this certification, we have a suite of services and documents that make the process easy and seamless.”

There are a limited number of subsidies available in any one year. Non-certified members interested in participating are encouraged to act quickly. There are currently more than 1,000 NAID certified member locations on five continents, making it the most successful and well-accepted certification in the information management and data disposal arenas.
