The NAID Board of Directors has approved the launch of the NAID Certification for Degaussing Operations. The certification is similar to the NAID Certification for Sanitization Operations, with the notable distinction that an additional physical destruction capability is not an additional requirement.

“When service providers are certified for wiping drives, the program requires they have a method of physical destruction since all drives cannot be wiped,” said Katie Mahoney, Director of Certification Operations at NAID. “We do not have that same issue with a degaussing operation.”

Further, companies offering both sanitization and degaussing can earn both certifications with one application with, when appropriate, their degaussing capability also qualifying as the required physical destruction process.

The new degaussing application is available on NAID’s website.
