Next Monday, NAID’s website homepage will feature a link to a new consumer alerts page. The new page will list service providers who falsely advertise or claim NAID membership or certification. In cases where a service provider continues to make false claims after being notified by NAID, the consumer alert may also reference historical violations.

It is the intention of the members of the NAID Board of Directors that this will help consumers make informed decisions when selecting secure destruction service providers. Given its prominent position, the site is sure to attract the attention of consumers and service providers that are members and non-members alike. Ultimately, it is the board’s hope that the consequences of making false claims or committing egregious ethics violations are high enough that it will discourage those considering doing so.
