A good portion of the recent NAID Board of Directors meeting near Philadelphia was dedicated to aligning and focusing several association committees. This included renaming them to reflect their purpose and the appointment of new chairmen.

Effective immediately, the Certification Advocacy Committee was rebranded to the Certification Support Committee (CSC) better reflecting their mission of assisting members in becoming NAID Certified. Already the committee has developed the Consulting Subsidy Program and the ISO Scheduled Audit Alternative and within the coming months will unveil an electronic NAID Certification interface that will dramatically streamline the recertification process.

In addition to a name change, the committee got a new Chair. Steve Innerfield, CSDS of Quality Shredding in Deer Park, NY, who had been working on the committee, replaces former Chairman John Anderson, CSDS of Shred360 in Irmo, SC, who resigned after 2 years as the committee’s inaugural chair.

Additionally, a committee created in April, under the working heading Legislative Committee is now the Industry Action Committee, with the mission to address legislation that promotes secure destruction and recognition of NAID’s standards in the marketplace, including recognition of NAID AAA Certification.

NAID Director Glenn Laga of  Guardian Data Destruction in South Hackensack, NJ, (pictured) who has been instrumental over the last year in focusing NAID on such issues, has been appointed chair of the new committee.

PR Committee Renamed: In considering each committee’s focus, the NAID Board has also changed the name of the Public Relations Committee to the Communications and Marketing Committee (CMC). NAID Director Gina Lentine, CSDS, of Assure Shred in Ringoes, NJ, remains the chair. The mission of the CMC is to coordinate messaging to members and the public at large through the association’s many communications platforms.

Those interested in working on a committee or interested in any increased involvement in NAID leadership can contact NAID CEO Bob Johnson at  The NAID website does not yet reflect these changes made only last week but will be updated in the coming days.
