Among all the trends discussed at E-Scrap 2017 last week - electronics recycling’s largest annual conference - evidence of the continued importance of data security and the growing relevance of NAID AAA Certification was visible throughout the event.

From the opening general session, featuring leaders of trend-setting ITAD processors up to the final concurrent sessions, both service providers and market experts agreed that data security is the top concern of B2B clients, and many openly boasted that they used NAID AAA Certification to demonstrate their security and regulatory compliance.

As further evidence of NAID's growing relevance, NAID CEO Bob Johnson was invited to speak at this year’s event, fittingly in the general session covering e-scrap trends. During his presentation, Johnson described NAID AAA Certification as being primarily focused on verifying service provider compliance with the continually changing data protection regulations around the world.

For more than a decade NAID has been making meaningful inroads into to the IT asset disposal arena. Secure, compliant IT asset disposal is heavily featured in the association’s popular Information Disposition textbook, and the upcoming NAID 2018 Conference & Expo, held in Nashville from April 13 – 15, will host a full track on IT asset disposal security.
