After a fifteen year absence, NAID returned to the exhibit floor at the ARMA International Conference, held this year Oct 15-17 in Orlando.  It’s estimated that the three-day event attracted close to 2,000 records and information management professionals.

According to NAID CEO Bob Johnson, NAID’s message was well received. “We’re not really selling anything to these professionals,” says Johnson. “We’re simply there to remind them that information destruction is important, and that they need to be careful when they hire secure destruction services. Once they understand we’re just trying to help, they become far more receptive to that message.”

Johnson also says NAID’s presence reinforces members’ relationships with these professionals.

“I heard from so many attendees who instantly recognized the logo,” says Johnson. “They seemed genuinely happy to report they require NAID Certification and that NAID was there supporting their event.”

The Information Disposition textbook was also promoted at the event by NAID and ARMA. The demand from Information Governance professionals for best practices has been such that the ARMA International bookstore has sold out of its initial order and also sold out of all copies ordered for the bookstore to carry during the convention.
