NAID Board Unanimously Endorses Merger with PRISM International

March 13, 2018

As many readers know, last week NAID President Eric Haas announced a special meeting of members to be held by electronic ballot between March 26 and April 6, seeking member ratification of new bylaws that will lead to a merger of NAID and PRISM International. The Board of Directors of both organizations unanimously approved the new bylaws in February.

In announcing the upcoming ratification vote, Haas cited the benefits that would result from the merger, including more effective industry representation, the added strength of combined resources, and the enhanced efficiency of a combined back office.

“The goal was to achieve these benefits without losing decades of goodwill and branding,” said Haas. “NAID® membership, NAID AAA Certification®, as well as PRISM International and its Privacy Plus® certification program will not change. And the efficiencies achieved will make sure the association is offering membership and certification as economically as possible.

Active Member official representatives will receive ratification ballots via email on Monday, March 26. Members with questions regarding the merger should email them to [email protected] through March 21st. NAID will compile all applicable questions from the membership and post the responses for review.

For members unfamiliar with PRISM International, it is the trade association for the commercial information management industry, focused primarily on information outsourcing services performed on behalf of clients that are primarily centered on the following service areas: physical records management services (paper files); data protection services (media vaulting of computer backup tape or tape libraries); confidential destruction services (secure shredding services); and imaging services (digital or film-based conversion of paper records).
