Personal Information Found in Macy’s Dumpster

Bookmark and Share

February 10, 2010- Documents containing personal information, including Social Security numbers, were found blowing in the wind outside of a Macy’s department store in St. Louis, Missouri. The documents may have been used by homeless individual for bedding. While expressing regret over the incident, Macy’s did state that they would lock their dumpsters in the future. However, not securely destroying the information will likely result in future incidents—and is the only proven method to prevent instances like this from occurring.
