Data Privacy Day 2010 is an international celebration of data protection and information privacy promoted by the United States, Canada, and the European Union.  It is fitting that NAID will be well represented around that time in each of these jurisdictions.

US – In the United States, NAID will be a featured guest of the California Privacy Protection Commissioner at their celebration in Sacramento.  NAID will be represented by Chief Operating Officer Dustin McKissen, who will address the audience on the importance of protecting information stored on discarded electronic equipment. Many state dignitaries will also be involved, and the event may include an appearance by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Canada– North of the 49th parallel, NAID will participate in an event in Toronto celebrating the continuing success of Privacy by Design concept developed by Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner Dr. Ann Cavoukian.  The event will mark in the induction of Executive Director Bob Johnson as an official Privacy by Design Ambassador.  Past President Tom Simpson, who also serves as the NAID Board liaison on the NAID-Canada Board of Directors, will also be in attendance.

Europe – While the event is not officially related to Data Privacy Day a delegation of NAID-Europe Members will represent the association at the ASIS International Information Asset Protection Conference in London.  The event takes place on January 25th and 26th.  NAID-Europe is a featured sponsor of the event and association representatives will staff an exhibit display for the duration.
