Sims/British Telecom Release Hard Drive Study Results

A study released on May 8th that was sponsored by NAID member-company Sims Lifecycle Services and BT (British Telecom) and conducted by the forensic computer science laboratories at Longwood University in the United States, University of Glamorgan in Wales, and Edith Cowan University in Australia has revealed that 34% of discarded hard drives still contain confidential data. 

Reportedly included among the data found was test launch procedures for the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) ground to air missile defense system, patient medical records, images of x-rays, medical staff shifts, and network data and security logs from the German Embassy in Paris were discovered on a disk from France.
